Pre-Eclipse Horoscopes for the week of February 29th from Chani Nicholas

Pre-Eclipse Horoscopes for the week of February 29th from Chani Nicholas

Chani says “this week the instinctual impulse will be to release and make room for the new lunar cycle to come.” I know I feel that.

I for one have been marinating in what I’m lovingly calling the ‘loading bay’ – an energetic waiting room of sorts that I believe is leading towards the New Moon eclipse of March 8th, which is unsurprisingly the date of my next tango with San Pedro. I’ll be heading off to my Shamanic retreat near the week’s end and so the blog will be a bit quiet for the next week.

Wishing all of you love and much peace in the meantime.

If you’re so inclined, I’d highly recommend signing up to Chani’s guide to the Eclipse Season. I’ve been in one of her classes this past month and it has deeply enriched my understanding of Astrology. She is not just a fab astrologer but also an excellent teacher of all things Astro.

The Sun

From our vantage point here on earth, our spectacular light source is “traveling” through some very interesting waters. Currently in Pisces, old Sol is highlighting one of the more important skeletal systems of 2016’s astrology, the Saturn/Neptune Square.

Saturn, known for its realism, and Neptune, known for its idealism, are an odd couple to say the least. Tied together through a friction inducing aspect (the square) for most of the year, Saturn and Neptune challenge us to balance the budget between our dreams and our waking reality. While Saturn builds and Neptune dissolves, this influence can appear about as stable as sandcastles at high tide. Saturn’s strictness is met with Neptune’s escapism. Saturn’s hard-earned authority is met with Neptune’s intuitive understanding. Neptune’s need for illusion is met with Saturn’s need for discriminating data collection. Oneness isn’t something we get to experience without slamming up against what separates us. Meditating in a shiny yoga studio, far from pain and poverty doesn’t make us more in touch with humanity. Giving out Oscars to only white, non-trans, able-bodied actors does not make for an institution that celebrates humanity’s excellence in creative pursuits.

The sun, having just left the conjunction it made with Neptune on Sunday, February 28th, will spend most of the week traveling to make a square to Saturn on Saturday, March 5th. A sun/Saturn square is a rough patch to persist through. Saturn can be overly imposing through the limits it loves to set and while structure and integrity are important when pursuing creative self-expression, this aspect can also promote a cruel kind of self-rejection and self-limitation. Give yourself some room.

This formation, this need for a reckoning between that fantasy and reality, will be a main theme in the upcoming solar eclipse/new moon on March 8th. The sun finishes the week with a helpful sextile to Pluto in Capricorn, an aspect that can help us to guide our creative power towards accomplishing all we set out to do.

The moon

Meanwhile, the other luminary to live by will be waning through its last quarter of light, on its way to merge with the sun again come Tuesday, March 8th in a new/moon solar eclipse in Pisces. This week, the instinctual impulse will be to release and make room for the new lunar cycle to come.

Mercury

The Messenger has a difficult week ahead as it spends time on the edges of Aquarius’s last degrees. The last degrees of a sign are temperamental and not all together friendly. However, the hostile vibes come more from a square that Mercury makes to the malefic Mars on the eve of Friday, March 4th. A Mercury/Mars combination can bring about some harsh words and heated statements. This would not be a good time to let your mouth run wild. This would not be a good time to let your vitriol lead the way. This would also not be a good time to try and rattle the cages of venomous villains. Mercury will move into Pisces on Saturday, March 5th, the sign of its fall. Mercury has a harder time following the lines of logic and keeping the facts straight in Pisces. The water sign loves to take big gulps of life and can often miss the details needed to discern truth from fiction.

Venus

Venus, the Lover’s Lover, gets a creatively structural boost this week via a sextile to Saturn and Uranus. Roaming through the patch of Aquarius where the last new moon fell, Venus is extra fortunate to get assistance from Saturn while still in Saturn’s sign. This bodes well for reinventing, reinvigorating and innovating relationships and creative projects.

Mars

After Mars gets one last jab via a square to Mercury while still in Scorpio, its home turf, the warrior shifts signs on Saturday, into Sagittarius. Not a completely easy move for the red-hot hustler as it is now co-present with its nemesis, Saturn, and in the sign where it will station retrograde come mid-April. Mars in Sagittarius wants to roam rapidly across the great philosophical plains of truth-seeking Sagittarius. However, Saturn is sure to slow the search. Plus with Mars now well into its pre-retrograde shadow, desire begins to turn inward, pushing up against inner limitations. With Mars, we must always circle back around to check our own motives.

If you know your rising sign, please read it. Reading your rising sign gives you a more specific understanding as to how the astrology is landing in your personal chart. That does not mean that the rising sign is how you should identify or that it is more important than your sun sign however. If you don’t know your rising sign, read your sun sign. If you know both your rising sign and sun sign, please read both. They both contain important information. You’ll know which resonates more for you from week to week. Take what works for you, leave the rest. If you find inspiration here we love and appreciate donations. If you want to share this work you must quote it and link it to this post and website. Watch the wandering, wishing-for-the-whimsical inner whining that is begging for an escape from the every day. Watch. Listen. Learn. What is it that you want to escape from? What is too much at the moment? What is building up? What mini-breaks could you give yourself? What supportive escapes could you make? What spiritual journeys could you take that would help to facilitate something like a little time off?

A conscious time-out is important. There is something that needs to be integrated, experienced or understood within you that can’t be if you are always on the go. There is so much going on behind the scenes and in private right now that to pretend like it isn’t as important as it is could be detrimental to your health.

This might be about needing to retreat so that you can get work done. It might be about needing to pull inward so that you can process more complex emotions. This might mean getting out of town for a moment not only so that you can get work done, but also so that you can get a different perspective on what’s going down.

Taurus copyTaurus & Taurus Rising

The beginning of this week offers you some pretty sweet treats in terms of your public life, career and role in the world. It may be a subtle offering, but one that can help you to make the connections you need and establish the relationships necessary to get a component of your work out in the public. Make the contacts that you know you need to. Remind folks that you are ready, willing and able to do the work. Remind folks that you are more than talented enough to do the job that’s yours to do. This week may also put you in a role to help to console, comfort, and come to the aid of those that need you and, by the looks of your chart, there is a tremendous amount that you are offering folks at the moment.

Remember to hydrate. Remember to cleanse. Remember to return to yourself when the masses overwhelm even your sturdy structure. Remember to ask for the help that you need. Every source needs time to refill and refuel. You’ve got a lot that you are giving out right now and you’ve got a lot to give out right now, but that doesn’t mean your well can’t run dry too.

Whatever your relationships are demanding of you, from you and even for you is in some way affecting your way of being in the world. Testing you to make more of yourself, for yourself and with yourself.

There is no greater asset to work with than our sensitivity. Those that tenderize us help us to access this kind of power. Those that help us want to be more transparent, open and available are (unknowingly) helping us to access a deeper connection to our talent.

Sensitivity opens us up to a myriad of creative influences. Sensitivity opens us up to the talents that only our heart knows. Sensitivity opens us up to the intelligence of love. You have that sensitivity, that intelligence and that kind of inspiration naturally occurring in your career all of the time. But there are times when this kind of natural ability is amplified.

That time is now.

This is your season. This is your reason to recognize what you want to bring to the work that you do. There is most likely a shift happening here. There is most likely a need to move brewing here. There is most likely a vision, a calling, an inspiration tugging at you here. There might be a relationship that helps you manifest it. There might be a romance that helps you harness it. There might be an enemy that helps you fight for it but one thing is for sure, those that help you get to it are helping indeed.

Cancer copyCancer & Cancer Rising

Few moments are as creative as ones where anything is possible. With so much open to you, with so much starting to percolate within you and with so much opportunity to move about in ways you couldn’t before, on one hand, the sky is the limit.

But, on the other hand.

On the other hand there are mounting pressures to perform. There are tasks to get done. There are big projects to embody. There are sizable structures to raise. You may have learned to be more masterful while performing the ritual of Getting Things Done. You may be more proficient at choosing the most important things to start with. You might be more capable of corralling your energy towards an end goal that feels, in the end, reenergizing.

The task that lies before you is one of finding the intersection of responsibility and creativity. Of productive activity and inspired action. Of going with the flow and getting to it. Watershed moments are meant to be experienced. They are meant to be lived. They are meant as gifts. We are meant to do with them what we choose. What will you do with yours, because whether you like it or not you are going to have to make a choice?

Leo copyLeo & Leo Rising

Whatever you want to create right now takes a kind of partnership that demands vulnerability from you. It asks for your openness. It desires your willingness to reveal something about the nature of your need.

That doesn’t mean that you are altogether certain of your stride. It doesn’t mean that you are confident in your decision all the time. It doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for ambiguity, uncertainty or second-guessing.

But your longing for a deep, spiritual union, something that lifts you out of the mundane and into the ethers, is real. Issues around children, creative projects and love lessons all ask for your attention in the coming months. But the only way to deal with the problems is to understand the nature of what your heart wants. If the situation that you are in is worth the struggle, then the love that is within you will know how to move forward. Let your love lead the way. Not foolishly. Not without understanding the nature of the consequences of your decisions. Not without weighing all your options. But by doing all your due diligence, knowing all the facts and still hearing a resounding YES from the center of your chest when you inquire about it.

Virgo copyVirgo & Virgo Rising

Situations that begin to surface at home, issues that begin to frustrate your foundation, and predicaments that start to peer through the weave of your familial fabric will become ever more prominent as this spring rolls in.

It doesn’t have to be devastating. It doesn’t even have to be major. But it is significant. It is noteworthy. A movement, either physical or emotional, is taking place. It’s about where you psychologically lay your roots. It’s about understanding the soil that will help you dig into your life in the most successful of ways.

With that knowledge, you can more honestly look at your partner(s) and understand where you stand. Be they business or romantic partnerships, friends with deep bonds or bonds that grew out of difficult but important relationships, it’s hard to know where we stand with others until we feel rooted in ourselves.

Self-knowledge and a sense of being firmly rooted in yourself is not something that you have to have in the bag at this moment though. It’s just a compass to keep your eye on and an arrow to point you in an honest direction.

Libra copyLibra & Libra Rising

On a practical level there may be something that you need to write, speak, say, teach or tell like it is at work. There is a tension between what you have to do at the office and the way in which you need to do it. Sometimes it’s a time constraint. Sometimes it’s a momentarily unresolvable issue that gets in your way. Sometimes it’s a situation that seems a little unnecessary. But nonetheless it’s here for you to contend with.

With an upswing in daily activities around the corner, it’ll be important for you to learn how to manage time constraints and time-sucking issues. You’ll have to apply a bit of your charm to finessing the problems and persuading them to help you out instead of hindering your progress. And you’ll have to learn how to have some difficult conversations around your work and plans for future progress. There are ways that you’re moving or will move that might cause a fuss or hurt a feeling or two. Sometimes that’s all part of the package.

This week also brings you creative gifts and/or a romantic kiss. The signature might be part of a larger theme around your work and what you want to create through your words and/or be about who you love and how you need to make more room for them in your schedule.

Scorpio copyScorpio & Scorpio Rising

There is a strong suggestion in this week’s astrology to look to the lives of the artists, healers and free-thinkers that inspire you the most. The ones that have found a way to carve out a life for themselves. Not just a financial way forward, but an honest, well-rounded life worth living. A life where there is room to voice one truth. A life where there is room to grow and change. A life where there is room to outdo oneself due to a relentless energy that is allowed to escape its girdle every once in a while. A life where there is structure and freedom. A life where you can get on the horse and ride till your road runs out. A life where you can set that creative beast out to pasture come night fall. A life that equals the totality of your parts.

There is a strong suggestion in the astrology of the next couple of weeks and months that you are moving towards a deeper understanding of how the rhythm of your creative pulse can rock awake your ability to support yourself with it. Along with that may come an increased dissatisfaction with anything that you do for work where it feels like only a fraction of yourself is present.

Sagittarius-2 copySagittarius & Sagittarius Rising

You may feel a marked intensity infiltrate your life come this week. You might feel a fire under you, one that spurs you into action. You may feel the need to be calculated and to come correct. A part of you may want to rush forward but another part of you knows from recent experience that you’re better off catching that kind of fire so that it can lift your air-balloon-like vision high up for all to see.

Learn how to channel your energy.

Look back to your past. Look back to what your childhood taught you about your courage. About your verve. About your vitality. Was there a place to put it? What did you learn to do with it? How did you come to know how to train so that you could maintain it? What did your parent’s relationship to their own passion teach you about the world, about your possibilities and about your place in life? What part of that are you questioning now? What part can you rebuke? What part can you repurpose? What part(s) do you keep close to your heart?

Find a way to harness your heat. Not so that you can be just another force of domination over your own life. No. Harness your heat so that it can warm your hope, so that it can light your way and so that it can offer others the comfort and the inspiration it was meant to.

Capricorn copyCapricorn & Capricorn Rising

This week your drive dips down into unknown territory. There are more interesting motivations than success. There are more important jewels to find than the ones that everyone else is flossing. You are on a different kind of hunt. One for meaning. One for purpose. One for realness, even if no one else knows about it.

Live your life for your own recognition. For your own approval. For your own fanfare. The more good you do that you keep to yourself, the more you’ll feel it. Less instagram. More inner glam. Heal your self by helping yourself as much as you can behind the scenes.

Healing also comes from conversations with family members that hold your worth when you can’t see it. Hopes are lifted when friends that feel like siblings offer their honesty to you. Happiness comes when you ask others for a relationship based on truth and mutual trust. Have all the kinds of conversations you’ve ever wanted to have. The angry. The needy. The nasty. The loving. The love-less. The forgiving. Have them with yourself. Have them on paper. Have them out. Get them out. They may not ever get to the ones you are speaking to but it’s you who needs to hear them the most.

Aquarius copyAquarius & Aquarius Rising

You’ve got a hefty financially informed curriculum in front of you. You’ve got lots to learn, unlearn and then relearn around your money, your motivations to make it and/or the job that you do so that it comes to you. You’ve got a message to give those that can help you along your path and it’s imperative that you believe in your ability to get yourself there so that you can relay it to them.

However, that is not to suggest that you have to get believing in yourself “right”. It’s not to suggest that you have to get self-esteem by tonight. It’s not that you have to have the perfect romance with yourself by any stretch of the imagination. All you need is the willingness to believe in your talent. The willingness to believe in what you have passion for. The willingness to have faith in the fact that you have this drive towards this destination for a reason. And that’s enough reason to believe in it.

This week holds a little magic in its secret sachet for you. It might show up as a certain someone wanting to help you out. It might show up as an unexpected but fortunate friendship, ally or social connection. It might show up as a passing comment that you make that happens to land in a way that is just risky enough to catch the attention of someone you need on your side. Either way, make the effort that you can to reach out and contact those that can help you.

Pisces copyPisces & Pisces Rising

You’ve got a choice. A decision to make. A deadline to meet. A mark to make. You’ve got a job to do. You’ve got a dream to fulfill. You’ve got yourself and you’ve got this space to carve out, fill out and make your own in the world. You’ve got a choice to either change, so that you can move into your next phase, or to fight the shift, so that you can stay the same.

There is no way to move without causing some chaos. There is no way to grow without letting go of some part of life. There is no way to fill a room without risking a sound-barrier-breaking boom.

There is a healing that’s happening. Notice the nature of it. The quality of its cry. The shimmer of its fresh skin. The sensitivity it’s gifting you. Notice the way your visions are asking to be made real, how your inclinations are more about solidifying your sense of self in the world and how your ready to let yourself be known as you are because the thought of changing to fit in no longer crosses your radar of possible options.
