Nothing exists in a bubble. No act of terror happens because humans are only evil. Terrorism takes time to cultivate. Terrorism takes root because we live in a world where the belief that some life is worth more than other life is pervasive. Some life gets grieved. Some life gets a chance. Some life gets protected, prayed for and lifted out of conditions that no human should have to try and survive. Terror takes root because super-powers do a super job of taking what they want and leaving the rest to rot. Terror thrives because we forget that it is our job to reach out and care, connect, love, protect and fight for one another.

Terror lives in our psyche. Our DNA carries its memory. It thrives on our refusal to reflect. It feeds on our fear. It exists because of the illusion of separation. Acts of terrorism are big and small. They are happening here and there. They are personal and systemic. They are private and public. They are local and they are global.

Love can save us though. Commitment to deep and unrelenting care can lift us out of the cycles of violence. Living lives dedicated to seeking out connection, justice, equality and the commitment to dealing with our own demons does make a difference.

We need to care. About our world. About ourselves. About our communities. About folks we’ll never meet and may not have one single thing in common with.

Walls will not save us. They will not protect us. And they cannot divide us. Not forever. Our hearts are too big to fail.

It is everyone’s calling to remake this world in the image of love. We aren’t above being of service to the needs of our time. Or the needs of ourselves.

Neglect twists us.

Don’t neglect your needs or the needs of those around you that you can do something about.

If you do it will get the best of you. And me. This is Cancer season after all. We are in this together. Like family.

Monday’s new moon is no time to play it cool. It’s a time to give hugs to strangers. It’s a time to call your people and tell them how much their patience and understanding has meant to you. It is a time to recommit to taking the steps we can towards creating a loving world for all.

We need a summer of love like no other.

The rest of this week’s astrology is reiterating these kinds of Cancerian qualities. The sun, Mercury and Venus get all kinds of gifts from trines to Mars and Neptune and sextiles to Jupiter. Mars in Scorpio demands that we get to the core, the truth and the real reasons why we do what we do. Jupiter in Virgo promotes small, intelligent openings that are full of purpose and practicality. Neptune infuses the moment with hopes of transcendent love and the realizations that we are all one.

It’s Thursday that we have to watch out for. It’s full of bumps and bruisers. Tension and conflict. The sun and Mercury oppose Pluto and Venus squares Uranus. All in the same day. Take a break. Opt out of any power trips. Relationships will get tested and testy. Give yourself what you need first and foremost. Resist the temptation to blame everyone else for anything else. Even if they are acting up, it’s your responsibility to act right. We need grown ups that aren’t afraid to care. We need grown ups that aren’t afraid to keep their word and their boundaries in tact.

AriesAries & Aries Rising

I reach down. Down to my deepest need. To the historic needs I carry with me. Needs of my own. Needs that were grown before me. The needs of my folks, the needs of my folks’ folks, the needs of my ancestors. Their passions. Their pains. Their un-lived potential. It’s up to me to heal this. It’s up to me to ask for help healing this.

Help is here.

I just need to ask. Ask the healers, the helpers, the elders and the earth underneath me. I just need to remember to listen to the help that comes to me when I am able to anchor into the place that I am standing in.

Help is here and nowhere else.

Monday’s new moon wants me to feel grounded in my emotional life, connected to it, not to forsake it. How I feel matters. My needs matter. I don’t need to pretend that they don’t. I allow any conditioning that has stood in the way of me taking care of myself to naturally and effortlessly evaporate.

My success is dependent on me being able to feel connected. I use Monday’s moon to set an intention to make this so.

Taurus copyTaurus & Taurus Rising

I take care of my ideas. I take care not to take seriously the ones that do me harm. I take care to uproot them, compost them and release them to evolve myself with my ideas. I leave room for new thoughts, new ideas about life and my ability to co-create with them.

I take care to take care of my mind. I take care through being caring in my communications. With myself and with others. I value those opinions that demand that I think deeper and that make me more conscientious about what I believe in and why.

I take time to do ritual. The rituals that keep me feeling connected. The rituals that help me feel nurtured. The rituals that remind me that I need constant care and looking out for. Like I need to eat everyday. I can always make a meaningful ritual out of it. I might remember to connect to something larger than myself everyday which can be a part of my walk to work or my more traditional meditations. I set intentions with this new moon to be more mindful about my daily needs so that when the bigger business of life comes at me I am well ready for it.

I nurture what I have to work with. I care for it. Tend to it. Spend time developing it. Any part of me that does’t respect what I have been given gets transformed in the dark of this new moon.

This is my time to re-prioritize what I take care of. This new moon is my wake up call to caring for all that I have at my disposal.

I do not take this process for granted. I do not miss the access to this. I do not overlook ways to work with this. I respect the energy that I put out into the world. I respect the material life that I am afforded to live in exchange. I honor that what I do in the world can help to create a more loving, more connected, more caring world to live within. I create that with every dollar I spend and every dollar I earn. I put that first. Before fancy things. Before diamond rings. Before I get too down on myself for not being enough of anything else, I take time to remember what I value. Truly. I take time to remember that the only thing that I get to take with me after this wild ride called life is the love I gave and the love I received. I take time to remember that love is the currency of the human heart and as long as I put that ahead of the accumulation of objects, I’m the richest babe in all the land with plenty of bounty to spread around.

May I take the opportunity that this moon is making for me. May I make a happy birthday to me possible. May I take this opportunity to renew my commitments to myself. May I take this opportunity to wish myself well, to wish myself love, to wish myself connection to those that I love, to meaningful work that supports my spiritual growth, to the development of my autonomy and the courage to pursue my dreams.

May I remember to play this year. May I learn about what I need. May I learn how to take care of my needs. May I be released from the fear that self-doubt creates, at least for long enough to remember that I have the choices that I do.

May I remember that I don’t have to suffer in isolation. May I remember that while meaningful relationships with other humans requires much self-work and reflection, they are still better than carrying this weight on my own. May I remember to be patient with those that I love, those that help me grow and those that I might not want to deal with but need to deal with. May I remember to be compassionate in my dealings with them. May I remember that deep connections require deep commitments to growth. And growth is often excruciating.

But the pain doesn’t last forever.

May I remember, learn to and make an effort to reach out to others that are available to me. May I not be afraid of my vulnerability. Or theirs. May I remember the power of my sensitivity. May I remember to honor all that my intuition sends my way. May I make use of my many talents this year.

Because they were meant to be shared with the world.

Leo copyLeo & Leo Rising

I’m not afraid to heal this. I am not afraid to know myself without this. I am not afraid of who I could be if I was free of misunderstanding myself. I am not my shame. I am not above my shame. I am not bound to my shame. I am not my regrets. I am not above my regrets. I am not in debt to my regrets.

Not if I am willing to do better today than I did yesterday. I do better today.

I am healing because I seek out ways to give myself what I need. I am healing because I am a being who refuses to get stuck in the past. I can’t fix the past. What’s broken is no longer in its original state. I am not in my original state. I am broken. I see my lines, my cracks, and my crevices as portals of deeper connection to life. This is my experience, no one else’s. No matter what shape my life is in, it is mine to make meaning out of. I make meaning by caring. I make meaning by being intentional. I resist apathy by making my needs of paramount importance.

I care for my own well-being. I care about how I am doing today. And when I care for my own spiritual, emotional, physical and emotional self, I naturally develop the talent of caring for others.

Caring is the gateway to greatness. So I step through it.

Virgo copyVirgo & Virgo Rising

I feed my family members, better known as my friends, warm bowls of appreciation. I know the value of those I roll with so I treat them like the royalty that they are. We might flail about on our own, but together we build unbreakable nets of collective resistance and supportive systems for our common welfare.

I meet the challenges that arise here as well. It’s not all roses up in this garden. Some weeds need weeding out. Some bad seeds need composting. Some of the sweet seedlings that are struggling need fertilizer, sun, love and light. I weigh each circumstance carefully. Every friendship has a season. Some seasons brings about great change while others host floods too intense for any life to take root.

I let myself feel the connections that I have made and that I am making. I am open to the emotions that my connections help me access. I know that the exchange of care that I experience here motivates me. It motivates me to dream bigger, be better and love stronger. Feelings fuel this communal fire so I make myself available to them. I am not above feeling this.

Libra copyLibra & Libra Rising

I find new ways to fall in love with what I do. I make sure that what I create in the world is connected to my deeply rooted values because when it is, the world had better watch out. When it is, it walks up on stage with a swagger that is unstoppable.

I bring my whole self to this jam.

I don’t hide parts of me that I fear folks won’t accept. I accept that fear of rejection is merely a human state, one that needs to be continually countered with courageous action.

I’m taking action.

This week might bring about a couple of curve balls to contend with but they won’t throw me off course. I make my career one of healing. Healing me. Helping me to create space for more healing to occur in the world. As I heal, my work gets deeper, doper and decidedly more dynamic. Energy moves through me at greater velocities when I allow myself to be sensitive to my needs.

No matter how work is working out, it is helping me along my healing journey. And if I’m healing, a little part of the world is too. And that is my greatest gig. To heal and to allow the healing to come through me and find its way to whatever needs it.

Journeys come in all shapes and sizes. The most important journey to take during Monday’s new moon, and for the next couple of weeks to come, is the journey of my healing.

I get myself to places that give me inspiration. Places that help me remember my humanity. Places that help me remember that this life, this journey, is transient. Nothing stays for long at all, so I hang out with what is fleeting, feeling the importance of my connection to it.

I get myself to the churches, temples, libraries, shrines, classes, teachers, elders and wild places that help me to feel nurtured, nourished and cared for by the ideas, ideals and philosophies that hold my life lessons in a loving and compassionate gaze.

I use Monday’s new moon to initiate a self-love practice. Because if anything is spiritual, trying to love myself through thick and thin is. If anything is spiritual, learning to love myself through the high roads and stumbling blocks is. If anything is spiritual, learning how to love the journey, or find love no matter the journey, is what I can bring to this journey. And this life is what I can bring to it. So I bring it.

Sagittarius-2 copySagittarius & Sagittarius Rising

I am not afraid of my fear. It comes. I cannot control that. Not all fear is bad. Some fear is necessary and imperative for my growth. If I don’t protect myself from what takes advantage of me, I cannot grow. And I’m gonna grow.

So stand back. I need some space to try this out.

I deserve protection so I give it to myself. But I also deserve the right to feel the gifts that come with great vulnerability. The differences between these needs can be tricky to understand sometimes. Therefore I give myself ample space and time to learn these things. It’s OK to make mistakes. It’s imperative to my process actually.

Sometimes I need to cover up and sometimes I need to let myself receive. I’m learning how and when to.

I’ve got all the time in the world to navigate through the collaborations that I am starting now or that I am already in. How I merge my resources with others is a powerful playground that teaches me much. Sometimes I give too much away. Sometimes too much is taken from me. Sometimes I am able to stop the energetic leaks in time so that I don’t get depleted. So that I don’t feel defeated.

This is my work. I am up for the challenge.

These are deep and tender times, so I’ll be tender with my depth and deeply tender with myself. And everyone else.

Folks are hurting. Folks need healing. Feelings get lost in the shuffle. Left for the hustle. But not by me. Not this lunar cycle. Monday’s new moon initiates me into all kinds of love lessons. I commit to studying at their altars.

Some of these lessons will be warm and fuzzy. Some not so yummy. Some I’ll want to spit out. Some I’ll want to sit with. Some I won’t quite know what to do with.

So I’ll wait.

I’ll be still enough so that I can hear the messages that the moment needs. I’ll be open to processing my own emotional reactions and I’ll be patient while others do so too. This moon wants me to get to know the more intense reactions that occur when others get close to me. And when I get close to them.

I might be pulling feelings out of folks that they aren’t quite sure what to do with. Or is it me that is getting turned inside out? Developing my emotional intelligence will help me sort through the differences and make the most of these connections.

Healing happens when you least expect it. Healing happens when it is good and ready to. Healing happens a lot easier when we care about our own well-being.

Your body is your bestie. Treat it as such.

Begin the rituals that help your body digest and metabolize your emotions. Notice which feelings get lodged in your physical form. Take yourself out on a healing date. Use the healing vibes of Monday’s new moon in Cancer to get in touch with your physical needs. Don’t deny them. Indulge them.

This new moon wants to help you soothe your nervous system and feed yourself formulas that help to flush out the toxins that you have soaked up. Your system needs a reset.

Drink extra fluids.

This is also the perfect time to initiate something in regards to your work projects. Especially if some work relationship or some aspect of your employment is in need of extra care and consideration. Especially if you are working on something that is of assistance or support to others. Especially if you want to create a more supportive work environment for yourself. Especially if you are trying to help your work become a gateway for more good vibes in the world.

We need all the ones that we can get. We really do.

Pisces copyPisces & Pisces Rising

I heal through the good times as well as the trying times. But this time I’m going to try a little pleasure on for size.

I’m going to let myself fit into this moment. I’m going to live a little, love a lot and remember how good it is to get out my art supplies. My dancing shoes. My make-believe.

I’m going to let myself feel what it is like to have fun. No agenda. Nothing to prove. No where to get to. I’m going to use Monday’s new moon to remember who I am when I am allowed to be myself. Full expression. Full permission. I’m going to have faith in the fact that if I let life happen as it wants to it will do its own job brilliantly.

I’ll trust that the bumps and the more extreme situations that pop up are just here for a moment. I know that issues with lovers, issues with children, issues with learning how to use my own creative energy are also places where I can learn about how to heal. Because healing never ends. We are never complete with the lessons of this life. We just hopefully learn more gracious and playful ways of learning them.

Go for gracious and playful this week, no matter what pops up. That way no matter what, you’ll be able to enjoy what it is you’ve been given to work with.
