Astrology Transits for November 2017: Saturn trine Uranus

Astrology Transits for November 2017

Tell all the truth, says Emily Dickinson, but tell it slant.

We may not always tell the truth, but we mostly think and speak at a slant. All of us, at the end of the day, are trapped inside of ourselves, our perceptions limited by the very personal pair of goggles from which we view the world.

Part of Astrology’s purpose, when done well, is to take that slant and hold it up to the light: to send rays of light careening into the shady parts.

October, November, and December act like a closure not just of the year but a larger cycle: during this period, Jupiter enters Scorpio and Saturn enters Capricorn. The personal slant we previously held in the areas of our chart ruled by Sagittarius and Libra have been poked, prodded, and suitably re-situated.

This month also contains the final Saturn trine to Uranus as well as the last Saturn square to Chiron. Both are more or less once-in-a-lifetime transits, and their finish weaves into this period’s thematic ties to closure.

Astrology transits for November 1st – 10th

The month starts off on an opposition between Jupiter and Pallas as well as a conjunction between Vesta and Venus. With the Jupiter-Pallas opposition we might find ourselves up between a patriarchal rock and a hard place, sussing out what achievement means to us (versus others, and perhaps especially, our fathers). The Vesta and Venus conjunction may have us considering how and to what degree we feel comfortable in our femininity and expressing that through our sexuality.

November 2nd contains the final Saturn-Chiron square, one of the touchier aspects of November. Saturn has been in challenging aspect to Chiron across Sagittarius & Pisces since December 2016. If you’ve been paying attention and doing the work – which probably had to do with respecting that time (Saturn) heals all wounds (Chiron) – the Mercury-Chiron trine on the same will likely open your mind to a message of healing, understanding, and integration.

November 3rd and 4th are like hot and cold, oil and vinegar, chalk and cheese.

On the 3rd, Venus sextiles Saturn and the Sun trines Neptune. On a day like today, you can comfortably lie back, dream a little dream and still feel the Earth beneath your feet. Relationships may feel serious, but soft, too. In general, you may feel inspired and deeply connected to something higher than yourself.

The Full Moon in Taurus on November 4th holds echoes of both last month’s New Moon in Libra, which featured a Sun-Moon opposition to Uranus, as well as the Jupiter-Uranus opposition of September. Uranus and his shock tactics don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. On a positive note, the Full Moon is in its exalted sign of Taurus and makes lovely aspects to Neptune (oh dreamy!) as well as Juno (oh how sensitive!). Lurking in the background, however, is a formidable opposition between Venus and Uranus, and since Venus is the lunation ruler, we may want to look out for breakthroughs and breakdowns in romance, as well as unexpected out-of-the-blue happenings in the love department. With squares between the Sun, Moon, and Ceres, we may feel pushed to decide what to nurture: our independence or our security?    Questions of worth, values, and what feeds us (physically and emotionally) may also feature. [Want to know how to interpret the Moon cycles for yourself? Mercury enters Sagittarius on November 5th. Traditionally, this placement is seen as weak, being that the micro-attention of Mercury fares awkwardly in the grandiose lands of Sagittarius. You may want to mentally bite off more than you chew, or take your soul-searching to the next, ultimate level. Next month, Mercury will retrograde in Sagittarius, starting December 4th and finishing December 24th; by mid-month Mercury will be in the shadow of this upcoming retrograde.

Right behind Mercury, Venus enters Scorpio on November 7th. And again, traditionally, this is seen as an uncomfortable position for Venus. Astrologically, the planet Venus is most happy surrounded by fineries and friends; in Scorpio, Venus may find herself plunged into a gothic drawing room filled to the brim with mists of opium and clairsentients galore. This transit is ideal, however, for stepping deeper into the shadier sides of Venus’ realms, so if you feel called to explore your desires in a more raw, Scorpio style, you’re right on track.

Also on the 7th, Uranus will oppose Vesta. These two are unhappy housemates, with Uranus plotting to break out of structures, and Vesta conjuring a lifetime’s worth of dedication. The urge to break free may be stronger than the desire to settle in and work, so choose carefully if you’re on a deadline.

On November 8th, we may feel a sensitivity to our partners, but with an opposition between Venus and Pallas on the same day, we may not have the time or words to express it.

The November 9th sextile between the Sun and Pluto is a good lead-in to the Astrology of November 11th – 13th: Pluto passing a bit of his power to the Sun may help us in the days to come.

Most importantly, the third and final Saturn-Uranus trine occurs on November 11th. Saturn in Sagittarius has been diligently working to edify and re-structure your faith, optimism, and beliefs in the house of your chart ruled by Sagittarius since September 2015. Uranus has been disrupting the house of your chart ruled by Aries with his particular brand of in-your-face shock and awe since 2010. With both planets, we’ve had more than enough time to understand what they’re doing and how we feel about that – but now we have the final dose of opportunity to marry the discipline of Saturn with the genius of Uranus and make a beautiful, creative baby. The Sun squaring the Nodes on the same day leads me to think that for many people this may be a crossroads point where we weigh up just how much of the old (Saturn) and the new (Uranus) we can handle.

Potentially less helpful is Pluto conjoining asteroid Juno, the Goddess of Marriage, on the same day. Pluto and Juno have been locked in a dance for most of 2017 as Juno swayed back and forth during her retrograde. The best manifestations of this transit will generate incredibly profound transformations in your partnerships, but it could be all too easy to slip into power struggles; push for the former if you can.

Despite what November 11th may throw up, November 13th looks quite peachy, if but a wee bit ungrounded. Today, Venus will conjoin Jupiter in Scorpio on the same day that Mercury squares Neptune. Venus and Jupiter together in almost any aspect usually portends good things (and sometimes, too much of a very good thing). In Scorpio, an intense attraction, unexpected boon, or stroke of luck could make its way to you. Romance is equally as likely, although the Mercury-Neptune square may make your mental faculties slightly foggy and altogether too wide-eyed for stellar decision-making.

Astrology transits for November 11th – 20th

On November 15th, Pallas re-enters Aries as part of her retrograde. Pallas has been toggling between Taurus and Aries, challenging the planets in your chart between 14 degrees Taurus and 25 degrees Aries to step up to the plate. Her re-entry into the fiery Ram sign may heat up projects around independence, taking the initiative and acting with courage.

On the same day, Vesta enters Scorpio, adding to the planetary pile-up in this intense sign. Vesta’s transit in Scorpio will give you fearful abilities to focus, and your attention may inevitably drift towards seeing beyond the mundane. Scorpio can be the most spiritually transcendent sign of the Zodiac, and with Vesta’s dedication to the sacred path of spiritual devotion, you may also find yourself contemplating (and deepening) your concept of spirit.c

Interestingly, on November 15th, Vesta in the very last degrees of Libra will oppose Pallas as she just steps into Aries domicile: your relationship to a group may come into tension with the urge to go off Han Solo in search of your muse.

November 16th may end up being a swell day for heartfelt connections. With a Venus-Neptune trine, Mercury-Ceres trine, and Sun-Chiron trine, you may find yourself canoodling away the hours, wrapped in a loving embrace with your other half. The Sun-Chiron trine, in particular, could lend a healing vibe to all this rose-colored fun.

Rejuvenated by love, the next day (November 17th) is good for getting things done: today’s sextile between Mars and Mercury make for supportive energy to write, communicate, or fight your case.

The New Moon in Scorpio on November 18th is a mixed bag of ghouls and goodies. On the one hand, the Saturn-Uranus trine is alive and well in this chart and builds towards a second trine with Pallas-Athena. Put plainly, you’ll have all the brainpower you need to get through this New Moon, and any hiccups that come your way will be instantly brushed aside. On the other hand, Mars as the lunation ruler is in a tricky spot: with squares to Pluto and Juno, I suspect you may have to dodge some mighty fierce bullets. Mars square to Pluto (ahem, which is in Harvey Weinstein’s birth chart – just saying), can bring about an intense drive, but more often than not, Mars’ drive is frustrated and distorted by Pluto. What we want may not be available, and we may feel ultra-touchy given this denial. [Want to know how to interpret the Moon cycles for yourself? Check out my class on the lunar cycles here.]

The Astrology for November 19th is enough to make you stay home, although the stars always have a way of reaching us wherever we are. Alongside the Mercury-North Node trine, there will be a Mars-Pluto square and a Venus-Ceres square. The lighter of these two is the Venus-Ceres square, although this configuration can bring about blows to our self-esteem and negative self-talk around our body and perceived attractiveness.

Mars and Pluto are another story altogether: at its worst, this transit can manifest in bodily harm, and at its highest, it can give us the motivation to make a change. In general, the drive of Mars meets severe resistance in the form of Pluto, so you can expect that the part of your chart ruled by Capricorn to represent the winning side.

 Astrology transits for November 21st – 31st

November 21st the Sun enters Sagittarius. Happy Birthday, centaur friends. 💜♐️

Also on November 21st, Venus will square the nodes and sextile Pluto. There could be a call to travel somewhere deeper in a romantic relationship. If you and yours plan on making it past this momentary speedbump, you’ll need to don a miner’s cap and head underground; for some, this day will be a tipping point of sorts.

Neptune stations direct on November 22nd. Unless this directly affects your natal chart, you’ll likely miss the gentle shift. That said, it could be helpful to ponder where or how your delusions, illusions, and dreams have been unfolding in the part of your chart ruled by Pisces since June 2016, when Neptune stationed retrograde. Watch out for messages from beyond or your bed – dreams may be especially potent now.

On November 24th, which is the day after Thanksgiving for my American readers, try and pass just the gravy and leave the passive-aggressiveness at home. Today’s Mercury-Chiron square could dredge up communication errors galore. Since this is also Black Friday, you may even watch out for stray elbows as you wrestle your way into a new flat screen TV. Later in the day, you can patch things up, when Venus and Juno come into sextile. It’s not a strong aspect, but it’s good enough (or at least, better than nothing) for smoothing things over.

The next day, November 25th, is an altogether better day for technology purchases if you can hold out, or, it could be a brilliant day for flash-in-the-pan insights that seem to fly in from nowhere. If your brain feels buzzier than average, but you can’t get any of it onto paper, you’ll get a second chance when Mercury retrograde trines Uranus on December 10th.

November 26th is one to watch. Venus trines Chiron today, so in theory, we can count on healing in matters of love. Chiron hurts AND heals, however, so you’ll perhaps wish to wait until you label today’s happenings as positive or painful.

On the same day, Saturn will trine Pallas, the second trine he’s made to our lady of all things alpha this year. You may wish to relate today against what occurred on June 10th, as there may be some repetition. Saturn trine Pallas is a godsend for concretizing your creative impulses. Brainstorm, draw it out, make a plan: this is a day you can use to put all the pieces together and get going.

Mercury joins the party the next day (November 27th). Like Saturn, Mercury has had a lot of positive play with Pallas this year and will continue to do so into 2018. Previously, Mercury trined Pallas across the signs of Virgo and Taurus; now, they’re in the same configuration but across Sagittarius and Aries. If Saturn and Pallas put our plans into focus, Mercury gives us the ability to communicate it.

Also on this day, however, Juno will square Mars. If you had ideas about introducing your latest concepts to business partners, courtesy of Mercury and Pallas, try and wait a day or two. While Juno and Mars in poor form mostly concern pitfalls in committed partnerships such as marriage, this aspect can just as easily manifest in the workplace.

The last important astro-aspect of the month comes November 28th, when Mercury conjoins Saturn. Like other aspects this month, this one will repeat: on December 6th, Mercury retrograde will conjoin Saturn once again. Mercury and Saturn together make me think of the adage ‘if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.’ Today’s the day for discussing plans or thinking (and eventually, re-thinking) what structure you need to achieve whatever’s got your inner fires burning.
